This website is a joint project of New York Lawyers for the Public Interest and the Seton Hall University Law Center for Social Justice. It aims to be an informational resource for advocates and people affected by medical deportation and the related issue of long-term care of uninsured individuals, regardless of immigration status.
New York Lawyers for the Public Interest works to advance equality and civil rights, with a focus on health justice, disability rights and environmental justice, through the power of community lawyers and partnerships with the private bar. The Health Justice Program at NYLPI works in partnership with communities to overcome the number of systemic and institutional barriers to accessing quality health care. The Seton Hall Law Center for Social Justice (CSJ) is one of the nation’s strongest pro bono and clinical programs, empowering students to gain critical, hands-on experience by providing pro bono legal services for economically disadvantaged residents in the region. Among the programmatic areas operated by the CSJ is an Immigrants’ Rights/ International Human Rights Clinic. Students in the clinic have been involved in a human rights response to the practice of medical deportation in the United States. Read more about their work on our Human Rights Perspective page.
